Secretary for Security visits “Safe Community Hub”

The Secretary for Security Mr Tang Ping-keung led the delegation from the Security Bureau to visit the “Safe Community Hub” (the Hub) on April 9.

Officers of the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU) briefed the delegation on ICTU’s latest development.  At the Hub, the delegation tried out respective exhibition and interactive experiences designed by the six member departments of ICTU, including virtual reality/augmented reality, motion detection, interactive hologram, and flight simulation etc., to experience on how to mitigate the risk of terrorist attacks.  They then gathered at check-in spots for photos.

To promote “Spot and Report” and the “Whole-of-Community” approach in counter-terrorism (CT), ICTU proactively takes forward CT public education and launched the first experience centre with CT theme at the Revenue Tower, Wan Chai in October last year, disseminating CT message  to the public through various interactive and enjoyable ways.  Within just six months of its launch, the Hub has organised over 90 visits and engaged with more than 2,800 citizens from different sectors and age groups.  It has received staunch support and active participation from the general public.

Admission to the Hub is free.  Members of the public, particularly schools, community groups and other organisations, are welcome to make reservations.  Please refer to ICTU website (www.ictu.gov.hk) or “Safe Community” WeChat Mini Programme for details.
